This is a four-name demo. In a real partner game, each parent signs in separately and your account saves the ratings.

From two opinions to one shared shortlist

A simple way to compare baby names without needing to decide on every name together.

  1. Create your partner game

Sign up, create a new game, and choose With partner. Select boy names, girl names, or both for the game.

  2. Send the invitation

Share the game’s invitation link or code. Your partner signs in with their own account and joins the same game.

  3. Rate separately, compare together

Choose Like, Maybe, or Dislike at your own pace. Open your shared matches, say your favorites with the surname, and talk through the choices.

Make room for both parents’ preferences

Your own ratings

Each parent records their own opinion. You can like different names and still discover the choices you have in common.

Strong and possible matches

Two Likes create a strong match. One Like and one Maybe creates a possible match worth discussing. Two Maybes, or any Dislike, do not create a match.

A game you can return to

Account games save your ratings so you can take a break and come back. You and your partner can review names at different times.

A shared match is a starting point for a conversation. Try the name aloud with your surname, discuss any family connections, and check the spelling and nicknames before making your decision.

Explore baby names before you start

Browse individual names or use the generator to collect ideas. Its saved list stays in your current browser and is separate from your partner game. The public US popularity charts use the sourced 2025 Social Security Administration rankings.

Questions about choosing names together

How does this baby name app for couples work?

Create an account and a new game, choose With partner, and share the invitation link or code. Each parent rates names with Like, Maybe, or Dislike. Both choosing Like creates a strong match. One Like and one Maybe creates a possible match. Review those shared choices together to build your final shortlist.

Does my partner need an account?

Yes. You each use your own account to join the same partner game and keep your ratings separate. Send the invitation link from your game, or have your partner enter its code on the Join a game page. The demonstration above needs no account and does not create a real game.

Do we have to rate names at the same time?

No. You can rate names separately and return to your account later. Your game ratings are saved to your account. A match can appear after both parents have rated the same name; look in your shared game for the results.

What can we use for free, and what does Premium add?

You can browse the public name pages, use the baby name generator, and create an account for a game with the standard name collection for free. Premium unlocks the extended name collection. An eligible game can use extended names when either participant has active Premium access. Check the upgrade page for current purchase details.

Are generator saved names part of our matching game?

No. Names saved in the public generator stay in that browser on that device. They do not automatically transfer to your account or partner game. The demonstration on this page is also separate: its example ratings clear when you reset or reload. Account games save each participant’s actual ratings.

Does BumpNames work in a phone browser?

Yes. Open BumpNames in your browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. You can try the generator without an account, or sign in to return to your games. The two parents can use separate devices; they need to join the same game to compare ratings.
